From $25 an hour, for time with a local friend. Here's what that actually pays for in Jakarta.
Before you message anyone, you probably want to know the number. Fair enough. This post lays out what a day with a Yes! Oppa Crew member in Jakarta costs, what the fee pays for, and what you'll spend on top of it. No fine print hidden at the bottom.
The base rate
The fee is from $25 per hour, with a 4-hour minimum. So a booking starts from $100. If the day is going well and you both want to keep going, you can extend by the hour. The exact amount is confirmed in the chat before you pay anything.
Why a 4-hour minimum? A few hours gives you time to settle in, eat something, wander a neighborhood and talk without watching the clock. Jakarta traffic can turn a short ride into a long one, so short meetups tend to feel rushed.
What the fee covers
The fee pays for one thing: your Crew member's time, spent with you. There's no package behind it, and nothing is decided for you in advance. The two of you choose what to do together, in the chat and on the day.
In practice, that time comes with a lot of small help that happens naturally when you're out with a local. Ordering at a warung where the menu is only in Indonesian, finding the right MRT exit, asking a vendor a question, or getting your Grab or Gojek driver to stop at the right entrance. None of it costs extra. It's just what happens when you spend the day with someone who lives here.
What it doesn't cover
Day-of costs are separate: food, drinks, entrance tickets and transport. While you're out together, travelers usually cover their Crew member's share of those too, the way you'd treat a friend who gave you their afternoon. How much that adds up to depends on what you decide to do. Snacks from kaki lima carts and a long afternoon in a Senopati cafe are very different budgets.
There are no other fees. The hourly fee plus whatever you actually spend on the day is the whole picture.
Coming with friends?
You're welcome to bring friends. The rate above is for one traveler. For two or more people, the amount is agreed in the chat before you pay, so tell us how many of you are coming in your first message.
Booking and payment

- Put your dates in your very first message, even if they're rough.
- Include everyone who's coming, so the amount is right the first time.
- Check the date, start time and amount in the chat once more before you pay.
- Read the refund rules in our Terms before paying.
- Keep your PayPal receipt until your day in Jakarta is done.
An honest note on availability
Our Jakarta Crew is just getting started and is still small. Some dates will already be taken, so it helps to message early. If nobody is free on your date, we say so quickly instead of holding your money while we look.
So, is it worth it?
That depends on what you want from the day. Jakarta has plenty of ways to see the city, and many of them cost less. If you'd like a fixed schedule and a list of sights, another option may suit you better, and that's completely fine.
What this fee buys is different: a few unhurried hours with one local person who speaks English, where you decide the day together and can ask anything. It tends to suit people who aren't after more sights, but want an easier day in a big, hot, busy city, and someone to talk to along the way.
FAQ
- Does it cost anything to ask questions in the chat?
- No. Messaging us is free, and you can ask whatever you need before deciding. You only pay after you've agreed to a confirmed amount.
- Can I pay in cash on the day?
- Bookings are paid upfront through the PayPal link we send in the chat. That way, nobody has to talk about money when you meet.
- Should I bring Indonesian rupiah?
- Some cash helps. Warung, street carts and traditional markets often work best with cash, while malls and bigger restaurants usually take cards.
- What if we want to stay longer on the day?
- Just say so. If your Crew member is free to keep going, the extra hours and the added amount get agreed in the chat.
