Bali feels a lot closer when someone who lives there is sitting across the table from you.
Bali is not one place. Ubud, Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu each have their own feel, and getting between them takes longer than the map suggests. You land, you open a map, and it is hard to know where to spend your hours. That is where a local friend helps.
Yes! Oppa connects you with a Crew member who lives on the island. You spend a few hours together, eat where they eat, and see Bali the way people who live here see it. This post covers how it works, who you meet, what it costs and how to book.
What you get
You get time with a real local person who speaks English. There is no script and no fixed route. You and your Crew member decide together in the chat before the day, and you keep deciding on the day itself. If something sounds fun once you are out, you go. If you are tired, you slow down.
Nothing is fixed in advance, and we do not put the day together for you. That is the point. It is your day, spent with someone who knows the island well enough to make good suggestions when you ask for them.
Who you meet
Crew members are locals in Bali who speak English and enjoy showing people the places they actually like. They are friends for the day. They are there to talk, help with ordering, help with getting around, and answer the small questions that are hard to search for.
Yes! Oppa started in Seoul, and the idea is the same here. You get a friendly person, an easy conversation, and an island that opens up a little more because you are not figuring it out alone. It is relaxed and friendly, nothing more than that.
What a day could look like in Bali
Every day is different because you build it together. Here are a few things you might do, depending on what you both feel like.
You might start in Ubud or Canggu, wander for a while, and stop for coffee along the way. Canggu in particular is known for its café scene. Sitting down somewhere your Crew member likes can be a good way to get to know each other before deciding what is next.
Food is usually a highlight. You could try warung food, nasi campur or sate lilit, the kind of everyday Balinese meals that are easy to miss if you do not know what to order. If temples interest you, visitors cover their legs with a sarong, so it helps to bring one. Uluwatu, on the southern cliffs, is known for its sunset views.
Getting around is part of the experience too. Traffic in Bali is slow, so many people use Grab or Gojek, and short distances can still take a while. Your Crew member can help you figure out what makes sense in the moment. Also check whether your dates fall on Nyepi, the Balinese day of silence, when the island shuts down and people stay indoors.
What it costs
Pricing is simple. It starts from $25 per hour with a 4-hour minimum, so a booking starts from $100. If you are having a good time and want more, you can extend by the hour.
The exact amount is confirmed in the chat before you pay, so there are no surprises. The fee is for your Crew member's time.
Day-of costs are separate. That means food, drinks, tickets and transport. Travelers usually cover their Crew member's share while out together, so keep that in mind when you think about your budget for the day.
Booking and payment
Booking starts with a conversation. You message us on the site, and we agree on a date, a start time and how many people are coming. Once that is settled, you pay upfront with a PayPal link.
- Message us as early as you can, especially if your travel days are fixed.
- Tell us exactly how many people are coming so the confirmed amount is right.
- Read the refund rules in the Terms before you pay, so you know where you stand if something changes.
- Keep the chat handy on your phone. It is the easiest way to sort out small details.
- Mention what you are curious about, like food, coffee or temples, so your Crew member has a starting point.
Message early if you have a date in mind
If your dates are set, the sooner you message, the better. Popular days can fill up, and there may be a day when no one is free.
If that happens, we tell you straight away instead of holding your money. Either way, you will get a clear answer quickly.

- No. A rough idea helps, such as whether you lean toward temples, coffee or food, but you can leave the rest open and work it out with your Crew member.
- Can I bring friends along?
- Yes. Include your group size in your first message, since it is one of the things agreed before payment.
- Will my Crew member speak English?
- Yes. Crew members speak English, so you can chat freely, ask questions and get help with menus or ride apps.
- What if I want to stay out longer than I booked?
- Let us know in the chat. Extra time is added in one-hour blocks, and we check the new total with you first.
- What happens if I need to cancel?
